Some good books I've read so far this year are: Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradly. Flavia de Luce, 11-year-old expert on poisons, uses her detective skills to clear her father from suspicion of the murder of a childhood schoolmate. Best qualities of this book - Voice - 1950's staunch British genius girl with a fetish for death and courage beyond her years. Her character is witty, endearing and entertaining. I look forward to reading the next books.
I Am Number Four series is extra special because they're written by an alien. The two best qualities are the unique characters and non-stop action. I can't wait for the next books to be made into movies. There are some fun interactive websites for these books. It took me forever to get to this book, but I'm so glad I did. The Skinned series by Judith Graves begged for my attention. Little Miss attitude meats chimera and paranormal romance. Loved it. I guarantee the third will be just as good.
AND I have a blog post up on Indie Elite about the Art of Interruption. Check it out.
